Join the MDAR Apiary Program Team at the State Apiary at Bristol Aggie for a hands-on demonstration

This event will be held live and in person (rain or shine!).
The event is free and open to the public, no pre-registration required.

Take advantage of this excellent opportunity to ask questions directly to one of our club's most knowledgeable beekeepers and State Apiary Inspector: Paul Tessier.

Attendees should wear closed-toed shoes, pants, and long-sleeved shirts, and bring their bee veil. Protective beekeeping gear will be provided (limited supplies available), if needed.

The State Apiary is located near the Standish House Admin Building close to the Taunton River.
To park, take dirt road (not the residential driveway) past Frank Costa Memorial Park adjacent to Taunton River then follow signs.

A great event for beekeepers and their families

Details are still being planned...but, you can be sure that that there will be lots of exciting activities and learning resources at this, our annual club social event.

Adults: $10

Children: Free

(*) Smoker Lighting Contest Rules:

Bring your empty smoker and only fuel you would use on your bees.
Bring your own lighting device.
You will have 5 minutes to prep your smoker and light it. After 5 minutes you will be instructed to walk way.
30 minutes later, return and you will be instructed to give 5 slow pumps and then 5 quick pumps.
The smoker that is billowing the most smoke wins.

Join Apiary Inspectors and Extension Faculty from across New England and New York for a virtual “Lunch and Learn” series held via Zoom Webinars on Fridays from 12:00pm–1:30pm.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet the dynamic team of professionals who support apiculture throughout the region, ask questions about honey beekeeping, and receive expert guidance on colony health, seasonal management, and treatment practices.

These sessions are designed to support beekeepers at every stage of their journey—so bee sure to come prepared with questions for the inspectors!
