  Be sure to visit the Bristol County Beekeepers Association table where we will sharing the observation hive and other information with the families.

  Party for the Planet is the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America! More than 100 AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums across the country celebrate with activities, giveaways, and special events.

  Buttonwood Park Zoo will offer visitors the opportunity to explore, learn, and play during this free-with-admission event. Over 20 local organizations and businesses are coming together to celebrate green, sustainable living, and teach us how to make choices that will ensure the health of our planet for generations to come. 

  The Zoo will have live music, a raffle, fun games, face painting, an ambulance on site, Earth Day-inspired enrichment demonstrations with our animals, and so much more!

  Attention all beekeeping enthusiasts! We are thrilled to announce an upcoming talk that’s sure to create a buzz: “Swarming into Action: Understanding and Controlling Bee Swarms.”

  Join us as we dive into the fascinating world of honey bees and their swarming behavior, a critical aspect of their natural life cycle and an event of paramount importance for beekeepers.

  During this insightful session, we will explore the triggers of swarming, the signs that herald this event, and the most effective strategies for swarm control.

  Whether you’re a seasoned apiarist or a budding beekeeper, this talk will equip you with the knowledge to manage your hives proactively and maintain the harmony of your buzzing colonies.

  Fatih Uzuner is a South Shore local beekeeper who has been keeping hives since he was a teenager.  He started with one colony. He soon grew his apiary to many hives in the Black Sea region of Turkey.

  
  

  He has been in the USA since 2003, keeps many colonies and produces honey, selects and raises local queens and nucs in the South Shore of Massachusetts.
